What is the difference between a folding carton and corrugated?

A folding carton is the printed paperboard box on the shelf. Corrugated is the fluted board used for shippers and some trays. A small mailer can still be paperboard. A large master shipper is corrugated.

Folding cartons are made from paperboard: SBS, CCNB, kraft, or TMP. That is the custom box Fampack designs, prints, die-cuts, and glues. Reverse tuck, straight tuck, tuck-top auto bottom, seal end, and sleeve are all folding cartons.

Corrugated is a fluted sheet. An RSC master shipper is corrugated. So is a lot of display and tray work. Size is the clue. If the box is large, it is corrugated. If it is small, it may still be a chipboard carton, including a mailer.

Fampack can laminate, die-cut, and glue corrugated when the piece fits the machines. We do not print on corrugated. Design, samples, and quotes start at the Canyon Lake office. If you are not sure which board you need, send the size and what the box holds.
